Graphic Design Services

Every job is different and requires a varying degree of design and creative input. We broadly categorise each design job into one of three categories and quote based this requirement. As with any bespoke service there is flexibility and an amount of discretion involved to provide a fair price for the work involved. The table below explains the main considerations involved in applying the appropriate level of design.

Artwork

  • Artwork typically applies when you are supplying Word, PowerPoint and Publisher documents and need them to be re-set to a professional standard suitable for printing. Artwork can also include fixing supplied files that are not technically suitable for print including files without bleed or crop marks.

Creative Design

  • Creative Design is for projects that have an open brief and when the design process is generally more involved. This applies where the concept must be developed before the design process can begin and usually involves a more interactive involvement between you and our design team. If we need to use royalty free images or illustrations theses will be included at no extra charge. You will also receive a web-optimised version of the design that can be published on your website or emailed out as an attachment.

  • Fixed Fee – We aim to provide fixed design fees based on an initial brief taken through to completion. Changes to the brief or exceeding the inclusive amendments will incur additional charges, please see our Standard Terms of Business for details.

  • Amendments – We will provide a proof at each stage of the design process for you to review and request any changes. Each proof and subsequent amendments are considered a ‘set’ and we allow for a set amount of sets within the design fee. If the additional sets of amendments are required there may be additional charges, please see our Standard Terms of Business for details.

  • Stock Images – Images provided within our design fee are non-transferable and non-sublicensable, meaning that we cannot transfer or sublicense them to you. All images and illustrations provided are subject the compliance of JNB Publishing to the Istock Content License Agreement.

  • Concept – An existing concept applies when you provide us with an existing layout that requires re-setting or some minor updates to existing artwork. A concept created from a brief applies when an outline brief is given for our design team interpret and develop. In cases where the brief is vague and needs further development the concept would be developed with the designer or creative team.

  • Print-ready Artwork – On completion of the job we prepare print-ready artwork suitable for the relevant production process. We do not supply these files directly to the client unless specified in advance.

  • Web-optimised PDF – A compressed PDF of the artwork is provided as part of the design fee and can be added to your website or sent via email. Web optimised pdfs are not suitable for professional print output.
