There are few business sectors that move more quickly than the world of retail. As one store closes another opens, bringing a wave of fresh ideas and innovation to the high street and shopping centres. As part of this ebb and flow, empty units are quickly wrapped in vinyl to provide a marketing opportunity until the next tenant arrives.

We had the opportunity to work with Luton’s Mall Shopping Centre this week in designing and printing vinyl decals for two vacant shops in this busy retail destination. In Feast Street, where many of the food outlets are located, shoppers will now see a Mall Monster design covering one empty unit. At the other end of the shopping centre by the indoor market, we applied vinyl to the former Meat Inn butchers that is sadly now closed. Elsewhere we applied a replacement vinyl to an area beside the former Maplin unit.

After creating the design, the vinyl was printed in manageable sections for our installation team to apply. To add longevity to the print and to make installation easier, we applied a textured laminate to the face of the vinyl before trimming it to size. We then arranged for our highly skilled installation team to apply the vinyl after the centre was closed to the public. After several hours of hard work all three jobs had been completed and the results really do speak for themselves.
