Visitors to Luton town centre will get a taste of the seaside as ‘Summer in the Sun’ returns to St George’s Square for a week. Organised by Love Luton, the event provides local residents with the opportunity to build sand castles and enjoy the experience of the beach, without leaving for the coast. Fairground rides and stalls are also in the Square, alongside the giant beach to give the kids plenty to do during the summer school holidays.
To promote the event and as a member of the Love Luton board, JNB was asked to design and print banners for the railings that surround the site. To make the banners visible from both sides, the material wraps around the barrier and secured with cable ties. This creates a cost effective and eye-catching display that adds to the impact of the event as people pass. The banners are printed on a mesh banner vinyl to reduce wind resistance.
A temporary ticket office sits within the Square and JNB was asked to brighten up what would otherwise be a boring grey building. With a little creativity and production know-how JNB was able to produce custom cut-out vinyl graphics and apply them to the structure. Particular care was taken to use vinyl that can be removed after the event before returning the unit to the supplier. This is a more unusual job that is extremely satisfying to see in all its glory. Simple but very effective.
