The future of The Dunstable Business and Community Awards was plunged into uncertainty last month, after it was revealed that they may have to ‘take a one year break’. The announcement came during the sell-out 2015 Awards ceremony held last month at the Dunstable Conference Centre. The planned sabbatical was due to the administrative burden place on organisers who operate the scheme on a not-for-profit basis and give up much of their time for free.
In the wake of the announcement several of those in attendance offered support to ensure the awards returned including a generous offer by a prospective new sponsor. Following this outpouring of support, the awards are assured to return next year with an increased number of sponsors wishing to become involved. It was widely agreed to have been the most successful awards in the event’s history.
The Bell at Studham took home the highly coveted Hospitality Venue of the Year Award sponsored by leading local leisure and entertainment magazine Luton & Dunstable at Large. The independently operated pub and restaurant posted on Fcaebook: “We Won!!!! Best Hospitality Venue Award at the Business & Community Awards. Great News! Thanks for everyone who nominated us, we are delighted especially for the team.”
